Film trailer analysis sport 1 Draft day

                                                                   Draft Day

Setting: The trailers setting is set in Cleavland,Ohio in America pro dominantly at the arrowhead stadium and other facilities twinned with the club Cleveland Browns. The very fact the audiences first image of the trailer is the arrowhead stadium instantly puts them in the mind set that it will be a sports film of some kind that is at quite a high level due to the capacity of the location which is a very typical stereotype of sports films. As the trailer progresses we see different sports facilities based around the same club (Cleveland) for example the training ground and draft placement room, suggesting to the audience that the film will primarily be based around that teams success or failure.

Costume: most of the costumes you see in the trailer are smart outfits like suits and long dresses however because it is a sport film it also shows football kits in some clips which is the normal convention to these type of films to show the audience what sport it is (football).

Props: computers, phones and smart boards are pro dominantly used which suggests to the audience that the Cleveland football team is revolutionised and rich, meaning the club must be very influential with high stakes occurring to pick the right draft for that season. The use of these props subverts the typical stereotype of sports films as the camera actually focuses on the business side of sport by using angles such as close ups on phone contacts and whiteboard roster's.

Sound: there is a constant non digetic sound being played throughout the trailer and most of the digetic sound came from the impact of sports players which is common/traditional stereotype in sport trailers. One aspect of the non-digetic sound i heard was the way it changed tone or affect it cohesion with the images appearing in the trailer E.g. slow paced sound of the managers office to the fast paced sound of a football play battle.

Narrative: From the trailer we find out a few things about the story line and a few things we are left to wonder and think about (enigmas). We find out that the main general manager must pick a seasons draft on impulse by completely disregarding all the other managements schemes and plans in one particular scene we see the clubs main coach confronting the general manager about his tactics. However the audience is left to ponder about certain aspects of the trailer such as if the general managers method works through all the criticism and speculation the audiences comes to realise as shown in the end scene when he quotes "that's it no more deals" before cutting to the end of the trailer.

Representation: the trailer shows the audience how the GM of the Cleveland browns undertook the draft day pressure in which he gave the effect of craziness, rashness and stubbornness to the management above him suggesting that he is a character with no sense of stableness or cooperation with people around. This effective use of character is often used in sport films as it subverts the normal characteristics or persona of sports managers who have to be conservative in the opinions and style, meaning a more effective audience reach due to the fact of a new identity that's not really been recognised in normal sports management.
